Scientists affiliated with the Leadership Council are often asked to examine and provide information concerning the scientific merit of new or controversial syndromes and assertions. As a public service we make much of our research available to the public. Some of our recent efforts have been focused on the following topics:
- The Meta-analysis by Rind et al. (1998)
- Research Looking at the Veracity of Child Abuse Allegations During Child Custody Disputes
- The Effect of Trauma on Memory
To place these controversies in context, it is important to be aware of research on how humans are effected by traumatic events. Thus it is necessary to have an understanding of the following areas:
- The effect of childhood trauma on brain development
- The long-term effects of childhood sexual abuse
- The hidden effects of childhood maltreatment on adult health
- The economic costs of child abuse and neglect to society
- Interpersonal violence: On-line Research and Resources
- The Effects of Child Sexual Abuse on Males
- Female Sexual Offenders
- Scientific and Legal Issues Related to Child Sexual Abuse
